‘Who’s to blame? The NHS is down the drain.
Who’s to blame? 100 codeines down the drain.
Who will help with the pain in my back?
Chronic Coccydynia – unwanted pain on tap.’
Chronic Coccydynia is an installation that combines the therapeutic craft of knitting with sound pieces that address personal chronic back pain. The looms are knitted in clinical colours and represent the spinal cords as they project the pain through their bodies, as the music grows with intensity the looms are tugged at more frequently. Through MRI inspired beats and spoken words that express the frustration of being a current NHS patient, this installation - cum - song about back pain sits on the fence between addressing serious health problems and the constant trying to make light of the situation.
